It’s hard to believe that in the last 12 months my family has lived on 4 continents and 5 countries! What an incredible journey! If you would have asked me over a year ago where I’d be living right now I never would have guessed it would have been Kona, Hawaii, USA. We had lived in Washington State for almost 14 years and loved everything about it. The only thing that drew us away was a gnawing passion for the nations to know the truth and freedom in Jesus Christ. Continue Reading

As I’ve released “Rise Up” this week it has led to a number of profound experiences. As with all teaching of the Lord, it is experiential. The Lord never seems to let us learn something in our head without experiencing it. Continue Reading

This album is eleven years in the making. Every one of these songs has been birthed out of my beautiful church family in Tacoma, Washington. New Song City Central is a place where freedom lives and passion is consuming – all because of Jesus! There is no class that can Continue Reading

Well friends,
The time has almost arrived! We are in the final stages of mixing the project, “Rise Up!” I debated this afternoon with Pete Mahoney whether we should post songs in progress. I don’t know if we came up with a great answer, but when I started listening to some of the mixes this evening, I couldn’t help but want to share them with my friends, and I can’t wait another 6 weeks to do that. Continue Reading

Matthew 11:12 – From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.
How easy it is to become common! Everything in our society speaks to conformity. We are told to be ourselves. Look out for ourselves, take care of ourselves, make time for ourselves, reward ourselves. As if this is unique! Continue Reading

I felt lead to share the purpose behind the new lyrics. This is primarily for people at New Song. If you’ve been a part of New Song you have the context for all these songs. Many of my songs were written from the inspiration of a sermon or event in the history of New Song. As God birthed Freedom in our church we walked the road together and therefore have many shared experiences and memories. These songs were birthed from those things we shared together. However, as we are taking the message of Freedom in Christ around the world the new people that we are meeting do not share those memories and experiences. So they lack the context of New Song.
The Freedom manual has developed and changed over the years to ensure that you could pick it up anywhere in the world and understand it without having to meet Brian or other leaders at New Song. This is the purpose behind changing lyrics. Our heart is that the songs would stand on their own. We want people from all over the world to be able to listen to the songs without needing to have them explained to them. God is taking this message worldwide so we need to frame it in a way that it speaks across all generations, denominations, and locations!
You are all amazing! I pray the Lord blesses you greatly today in the Lord!
